The Selection Trilogy by Kiera Cass

The best way to describe these books is the Hunger Games meets the Bachelor. Basically they are funny and excited and overall just great! America Singer is one of thirty-five girls chosen to come to the royal palace and compete for the hand of Prince Maxon. America is not excited about this because she is already in love with someone back home and is she doesn't want the selection to ruin what they already have. This book is witty and fun but with action that comes along as well. This is going to be a trilogy with the third book due in May. Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

These books had me intrigued from the beginning. America did seem like the typical Katniss type person and some of her dialogue did bother me throughout the two books. She did have a lot of redeeming moments though, and I thought overall she had emotion that was relate able and fun to explore.  The Prince was absolutely enjoyable. Every time he was on the page I would just smile. Of course there were moments of freaking out and confusion over his actions.. but overall I loved him! It also was sort of a fun love triangle because the other guy who America is already in love with is not that bad. It wasn't a strong fast hatred for him (like it was for me with Gale). I feel like they are both very loveable.

Another thing that I enjoyed about these books is the fact that the minor characters are quite fun. There are a lot of them that you get to know throughout the books and not just in a hi bye way. You get to learn about them and see how the Kingdom plays a role in their lives. It was very enjoyable.

There were a few times that I felt like the story would drag, but those only lasted 2 or 3 pages. I recommend these to anyone in the mood for a good romance and fun story that will make you happy and wanting more. I honestly am dying to know how the series will end beause I honestly have NO IDEA what will happen. So go read these and enjoy a trip into the royal palace.
