This is a story where you can't let the title or the plot distract you from actually reading it. I read this in almost one day and I thought it was effortless, fun, and a really good mystery. Dora is a girl whose dream is to solve mysteries alongside Sherlock Holmes. When her cousin starts to have her old love letters ransomed she decides now is the time to go to London and find Sherlock. When she arrives the whole mystery is kicked off. Will she actually meet Sherlock? Does she figure out her cousin's mystery? Well read to find out! Rating: 4 out of 5
I just really loved this book. Its a little slow to start because you really need to learn Dora's whole life story before you can appreciate the later events. It's set in the Victorian time period in England... Its pretty great! I ended up enjoying Dora as a character. She made me laugh and smile. She is really smart and she really strives to live out her dream of being a detective. She is real, motivated, and overall pretty amazing.
I was amazed at how in depth the mystery became. I was shocked and thrilled and sometimes confused. I couldn't put it down because I had to know what was going to happen. I needed to know how the letters played in, where the house owners and maids fit in, and how the mysterious but amazing Peter came in as well. The book kept me in the palm of its hand the entire time. It was so refreshing and fun. I really am almost sad I read it so fast!
If you need a wonderful adventure full of mystery and a break from the modern day, pick up this book and let yourself be carried away!
